Anticoagulant medications are used to prevent and treat serious, potentially life-threatening conditions, including deep vein thrombosis, stroke, heart attack, heart valve disease, and pulmonary embolism.
Commonly prescribed anticoagulants include, but are not limited to: warfarin, enoxaparin, heparin, rivaroxaban, apixaban, dabigatran, and edoxaban. Because these medications can increase the risk of bleeding and other complications, proper monitoring and management are essential.
