Pre-Med Healthcare Immersion Experience

Grand Lake Health System is offering a two-week Pre-Med Healthcare Immersion Experience from May 11–22, 2026, designed to provide aspiring medical professionals with valuable hands-on exposure to careers in healthcare. This paid opportunity includes a $1,000 stipend and allows participants to gain meaningful experience while learning alongside healthcare professionals within the Grand Lake Health System.

The program is ideal for college students pursuing pre-med studies who are interested in gaining real-world clinical exposure. Sophomore through senior-level students with a passion for medicine and an interest in rural healthcare are encouraged to apply. The immersion experience is designed to help students explore different medical specialties while developing a deeper understanding of patient care and the healthcare environment.

Participants will have the opportunity to observe and learn in a variety of clinical settings, including emergency medicine, surgery, outpatient clinics, pediatrics, women’s health, and other specialty care areas. In addition to clinical exposure, students will participate in leadership and mentorship opportunities with experienced healthcare professionals who will provide guidance and insight into medical careers.

Applications for the Pre-Med Healthcare Immersion Experience are due Friday, March 27, 2026. Interested students can apply by scanning the QR code on the program flyer and submitting their completed application via email to Jan Howard at jhoward@jtdmh.org.
