Our second annual CampMed has officially wrapped up, and what an incredible two days it was for high school juniors and seniors exploring a future in medicine!
A huge thank you goes out to our local healthcare facilities for generously opening their doors. Students gained invaluable firsthand experience, from observing procedures in the operating room to learning about vital infection control practices and shadowing physicians in their daily practice.
We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Lake Campus nursing program for providing an insightful look at medical technology with their anatomage table and realistic manikin simulations.
We’re especially grateful to the more than a dozen area physicians who dedicated their precious time to this experience. Not only did they allow students to observe them, but many also shared dinner with CampMed students and their families. These informal gatherings provided a unique opportunity for students to hear personal accounts of the journey through college, medical school, and the realities of being a physician in a rural community.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s CampMed and continuing to inspire the next generation of medical professionals!
