Conditions We Treat & Treatments We Offer

GERD

GERD, or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, is a chronic condition in which stomach acid frequently flows back into the esophagus, leading to symptoms such as heartburn, regurgitation, and chest discomfort. Why the diagnosis and treatment of GERD are important:

  • Prevent Complications: Untreated heartburn can lead to serious complications, such as esophagitis, ulcers, and Barrett’s esophagus, which may increase the risk of esophageal cancer.
  • Improve Quality of Life: Chronic heartburn can disrupt daily activities, sleep, and overall well-being. Effective treatment can help you regain comfort and enjoy life without the burden of symptoms.
  • Manage Symptoms Effectively: Proper treatment can significantly reduce the frequency and intensity of heartburn episodes, allowing for better management of your diet and lifestyle.
  • Avoid Dependency on Over-the-Counter Medications: Relying on antacids or over-the-counter medications may provide temporary relief but can mask underlying issues. Professional treatment targets the root cause.

Barrett’s esophagus is a complication of GERD that can lead to esophageal cancer and we offer Radiofrequency Ablation.

Hiatal hernia occurs when the upper part of the stomach pushes up into the chest through the diaphragm, increasing the risk of acid reflux. We offer:

  • Nissen fundoplication and Toupet fundoplication. These are minimally invasive surgical procedures designed to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) by reinforcing the lower esophageal sphincter and helps prevent stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus.

Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) can have many causes, including narrowing of the esophagus, poor function of the muscles or an allergic condition. We work closely with specialists in allergy and immunology to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that may include:

  • Endoscopic dilation
